Generally depicted playing the flute, Kokopelli (an installation in the Archaeologia series) is a Native American deity or supernatural being. Dating to 1000 BC, the earliest images are rock carvings; however he is also depicted in rock paintings, murals, weavings, and pottery throughout the centuries and including the present day. Kokopelli is multifaceted as a trickster, seducer, rainmaker, and fertility symbol. |
