Marine life played an important role in Bronze Age Crete and Greece. Cuttlefish, dolphins, nautili, starfish, octopi, seaweed, shells, and rocks are the motifs of the Marine Style painting that was common on pottery of the Late Bronze Age I (1500 BC). From the Archaeologia series, Oktopous is an interpretation of the image on the Pilgrim Flask from Palaikastro, Crete.
