At the site of Agia Triadha on the island of Crete and datng to approximately 1400 BC, a richly decorated sacrophagus was excavated. It has scenes of a libation, a processional approaching an altar, and a processional approaching a tomb. The scenes are bordered by 10-petal flowers. From the Archaeologiaseries, Flora Triadha is a bright and festive interpretation of this decorative motif In comparison, a 12-petal flower (Queen's Flower) borders doorways and niches in the queen's rooms at the Palace of Minos at Knossos. |
